My friend gave me a little book of "coupons": an offer to watch the baby while I got away for a few hours; a gift certificate to a salon to get my nails done; an offer to cook dinner one night...little things that helped me get back to normal. Sometimes, when my daughter was still a newborn, I barely had time to get in a shower...so the little things meant a lot.
Another nice gift is a certificate to a spa to get something totally relaxing like a massage or a facial. Something that forces you to relax for awhile.
Good luck:)

Get her a gift certificate to a spa or to get a manicure or pedicure. You have to get her something she can enjoy right now that she's pregnant. I'm sure she's feeling tired and maybe fat and ugly cause I know around the time I had my shower I was feeling that way. A good book. Oh you know what's good is get her like a cute little bag and fill it up with your favorite things like:nail polish, eye gel mask, body spray, comfy house shoes, lotion, candles, bath beats, cool magazines, hot oil treatment for hair, and all those sample shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.. that way she can pack her own bag to take to the hospital. Well I hope that helped. Good Luck!!

I just went to a shower the other day and gave a few gifts for baby but I also put together a hospital kit for mom:
Trial sized body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, pepermint foor rub, fuzzy socks, a loofa and chap stick.
All the things I wished I had had when i went to the hospital, that first shower after giving birth feels great when you have nice body wash and shampoo, the stuff you get at the hospital ( if you get any at all) stinks

A gift certificate for a spa treatment. If your friend enjoys a certain type of sweet treat, perhaps some chocolates?
Movie certificates? Package including candles, her favorite perfume? Just a few ideas.

Is she a first time Mom? Definetly get her something that says "Mom" on it. Maybe a picture frame that says "Mom and Me" on it? Or something to pamper her...a gift certificate for Mary Kay products or a facial, offer your time to babysit, a basket full of bath products, etc.

A spa pedicure gift certificate. They're really not that expensive, and a pregnant woman always needs attention on her feet.....

A very personal and unique gift can be an oil painting from photo.
Try: www.paintyourlife.com
You can choose a photo and order it yourself, or simply buy a gift certificate.
Good luck!
