I'm tall, athletic, but haven't played baseball since I was 12.....I just started throwing this summer....,and with a radr gun my pitches were clocked at the above speed.....keep in mind that I had only been throwing for about 3 weeks to get up to that speed...I have never weight lifted or trained...so its possible that I could bolster my repetoire...maybe....but nonetheless with the stuff i have now would a college coach even look at me or would i just be wasting ym time.

i've been toying with a curve and a change, but i haven't developed them yet to the point where i could impress anyone with them or even simply get by with them. If i added a below average change aqnd curve and got my fball up to 90 would i have a chance...i mean i've only been at this for 3 weeks...i plan on continuing throughout the year and into next summer....and then by not this spring but the next make my move if I do at all.

you could if you learned how to throw the change up, knuckle ball, and the screw ball. oh and the slider and curve. my suggestion to you is to get videos about all those pitches i just named and study them. and try to go the some camps. camps and videos are what fhelped me improve my pitching . but I play fastpitch so thats a whole different way of pitching. but if you really wanna go to a division 1 college and be a pitcher , try going to the college you want to go to's pitching camp and learn a few pitches. the university of texas pitching camp really helped me . they taught me how to pitch a change up, curveball, dropball, riseball, screwball and a fastball. and the college scouts really go the tounaments with teams that play in class a and start working out.

You need a change if you're going to pitch D-1. It would definitely help to learn a curve, slider, or one of my favorites the splitter. If you are only throwing 80-85 the other thing you have to ask yourself is can you hit your spots. Any fastball 80 - 85 with no movement and no command is getting tattooed in D-1.

I'm sorry but no.....you need to develop another pitch to be effective....because once a team picks up that all you throw is a fastball, then they're gonna be sitting fastball.....I'm 15 and developed a curveball, a slider, and a chang-up @ 10 years old......here's a link for different pitching grips that i used when I was 10 years old.....when you get aquanted with the grips then just keep working on it over the summer, the fall, and the winter......and i wish you the best of luck!!!!!!!!!! 80-85 without a solid #2 pitch, it's not likely unless the team is in rough shape. If you haven't learned a #2 pitch, you are behind in development. My first thought would be mixing in a cut fastball, and learning a change - the easiest off-speed pitch to learn.
That being said... How is your hitting and fielding? Can you make it that way?
Best of luck!

You need another pitch, but if you work at your change and curve you might have chance with your 85 mph fastball. You should start lifting and get onto a team though.

You most definately will not even get looked at if all you throw is a mediocre fastball. You will need a good change-up and a breaking ball. If all you threw were fastballs people would hit you all day long.

the fastball is THE pitch a hitter looks for to nail out of the park, you need other pitches to change up with.

you need at least 2 or 3 more pitches to even be considered for division 1 no matter how fast you throw...batters will be able to hit you every time becasue you cant fool them with only one pitch...sorry...maybe you could pitch division 3

if you only have one pitch at the time your scouted, forget it, dont care how fast it is
develop all the skills of at least the average pictcher and then go for it
you can do anything you put your mind to
