Initially we installed the system when we put in the DSL line so that we could use our laptops throughout the house & yard. Then I found out that my neighbor is using our system. I am really uncomfortable to become the free zone for wifi. :) Is there a way to protect our system from unauthorized users?

I am not sure where our manual is. How do I figure out what our router or isp number is? Thanks so much!

Your wireless is unsecured by default. To secure it, you first need to log in to it's IP address. (If you don't know it, type "ipconfig /all" from a command prompt at any computer. This will tell you the router's address. (The default gateway number) It should be 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.254 or some such number.
Once you have the number, open your web browser and type in "http://192.168.xxx.xxx" (whatever the router number is). It will ask for a user name and password (usually admin and , admin and password, admin and admin, or admin and the number on the bottom of the router). This opens the web interface for the router.
Once there, search for the wireless security settings. You want to use WEP, 64-bit encryption. It will generate a "key". Write this key down. Once set, you will need this key to log onto the wireless network. Since the neighbors don't have the key, they can no longer log on.
Or... just e-mail me.

just go to the manufacturers web site and look up your model. the manual should be available online there, and the defaults are probably still the same for connecting via ethernet and logging on. then just look read the section on enabling wpa-psk if available, or wep if thats the only option. keeping in mind that your clients (laptops) will have to support this also. but they should.

yes

you have to goto the router configuration

check your manual. it is pretty easy. you have to goto your router's 'web page' (something like http://192.168.0.2 or whatever)
