I could swear that the chicken that they sell now tastes different.
Somehow from my memory, it is not as good as it was back then. Did the recipie change? Any info?

Family members say it went from good to bad to good again. They probably have chnaged the recipe

Your right. What made the chicken so good was the pressure cooker that Colonel Sanders used. In the 60's and 70's, he actually would go around the country unannounced, with his cooker; and check the food quality of the chicken at various KFC restaurants. He was obsessed with it. There were a few times when he actually closed the restaurants for a day if they didn't live up to standards, and would threaten them saying he would take over the restaurant if they didn't cook the chicken correctly. He was obsessed with quality.
When he sold the franchise, KFC began to pre-cook the food to make things go faster and to serve more people. Colonel Sanders flipped and threatened a lawsuit to keep the quality up, but he gave up all control and his rights to the franchise when he sold it. Colonel Sanders made a poor business decision and actually didn't make much money from the sale compared to what they made. Until his death though he was paid as a spokesperson.
I ordered extra crispy last year and it was so soggy and greasy that I was practically sick. They pre-cook a lot of the chicken and don't use the original type pressure cookers. Colonel Sanders was extremely depressed at the way he felt they ruined his chicken, up until the day he died.
FYI; Colonel Sanders was a master salesperson. He kept telling everyone about the incredible amount of spices that was in his recipe; a lab once analyzed the recipe and it had only 3 ingredients. Salt, Pepper, and Msg.

KFC has not changed that, however there are many things that have changed. For example the biscuits used to be made from scratch every morning at the restaurant. The gravy also used to be made by hand (now we use a powder mix), also we did not used to use instant potatoes like they do now. When the Colonel had the place it used to be more like a restaurant now it is just a fast food place. Of course doing things the old way required skill and skilled kitchen help will not work for minimum wage.

The recipe hasn't changed...but the health conscious public has forced KFC to do things like change their name to three letters to downplay the word FRIED and change the type of oil the chicken is fried in. today KFC uses peanut oil and other vegetable oils in an effort to appear healthier. They used to use real oil made from animal fat. The same type of oil that makes bacon taste so good. Can you imagine if you fried bacon in sunflower oil, how it would taste? So, yea man...It taste's different.

My mother swears the same thing. We used to go there all the time when I was a kid, then we stopped....I asked why. My mom said that they changed and it didnt taste the same. Its still good, just not AS good. I am with you!
