Am I the only person who doesn't watch the news on TV or listen to it on the radio? I get so sick and tired of turning on the TV and hearing about bombs killing people, a daycare center being shot up and children killed, 12 people dying in a 15 car pile-up on the freeway and a guy holding his family hostage.

Who else doesn't watch/listen to/read the daily news?

I'm with 0976--what news I do see is on the front page of Yahoo! or msn.com. Really, if you asked me what Hezbollah (Did I even spell that right? LOL) is, I couldn't tell you... A town? A code name for a project that the US gave what's happening in the middle east (i.e. Desert Storm), etc. Sometimes I feel really out of touch, but I think I'm a much happier person this way. Ignorance is bliss!

Not any more, Animal planet, HGTV, SciFi, Discovery and Comedy Central are my channels now.

I can't stand to hear the pain in peoples voices after they've lost someone. Rapes of little children, and the a**hole escapes.

Urgh!!!

Too much to swallow with the news anchors creating more drama than what is needed.

Where is the good news for a change?

I don't. It's depressing. Sometimes I feel guilty as if I should know what's going on in the world but, I have to trust in my local reps (mayors,senators,etc.). I can write letters on issues I feel strongly about, but what else can I actually do since I don't want a career in politics? Nothing. So why bother watching.

I think someone should start a "positive news only show", maybe on public access channel . . .

I don't. We have enough miserable things happening in our everyday lives, plus the news only shows how pathetic we're becoming. I'd rather not look at it. No newspapers, no news radio nor tv. I think i stopped looking once 9/11 happened, there was too much coverage of that.

I was before -- lately I've been more like you. I don't like being out of the loop of information truthfully but at the same time, I don't necessarily want to know what's going on either - especially when you are already stressed over stuff. I understand where you're coming from.

i rarely ever watch it. like you, i am so tired of hearing about bombs, shootings, murders, and innocent children being drowned by their own mother. it scares me what is happeningh to this world. i only watch it or read the newspaper when i come home from a trip and i'm curious about what's happening in the world.

I do not, I figure if it effects me or it is worth hearing, someone will tell me about it. Also news is extremely depressing if you watch it all the time. If people come to the doctors with stress or depression, doctors will recommend that they stop watching the news.

News is all bad, I hate it.

I only see what is on the yahoo front page, otherwise, I would never know.

I feel out of touch if I don't watch/read the news daily.

But I understand what you are saying.
