Simple math.
$8/hr * 40hrs/week = 8*40=$320
$320/wk * 52 wks/year = 320*52=$16640.00 before tax; better known as not enough to live on.

52 weeks a years is 320 X 52 is 16640 BUT assume 2 weeks off so $16000 and that is gross.

The simple rule is multiple your wage by 2000. That's 50 40-hour weeks. Figure you knock off 10 days a year (2 work weeks) for sick days, vacation and days off. $8 x 2000 hours = $16,000
If you get paid sick days and paid vacation, then you can multiply by 2080 instead of 2000.

since the answers have already been given, I will add a quickie estimate for any hourly wage full time worker
if $8/hour double the 8 --> 16 and add 000
$8 = 16,000
$12 = 24,000
$14.50 = 29,000
these estimates can be done in your head

Your question leaves out a very important piece of information.
How many weeks of the year does this person work?

You will probably only work about 2000 hrs per year, holidays, vacation, sick, and just plane ol'
need a day off. so about $16,000 per year might be more realistic.
