That's called a whitehead. I have scarring, but that was before I started using regular acne treatments (I have naturally greasy skin). Go ahead and pop it. It will eventually on its own. There's a "core" in there, a hard, white pustule, that needs to come out before it will heal. It's a small infection. After the initial pop, leave it alone. It's continuous and continued picking that causes the scarring. Try getting some over-the-counter acne meds and apply them for acne prevention every morning.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

NOXZEMA- NOXZEMA- NOXZEMA
A zit is a zit. "RIPE" ones as you called it are very tempting to pick at, but if you do, you increase your chance of scarring or at the very least, it will ultimately last longer that if you just leave it alone. I recommend cleaning your face with Noxzema every day. Spread it around on your face with damp hands using circular motions and then rinse clean. Pat dry. Then before you go to bed, reapply using dry fingers and leave on over night. Rinse with warm water in the morning. This will help reduce future breakouts and speed the process of the current one disappearing.

That is a white head. If I were you, I'd pop it...it will not cause scarring unless you really get down under. A scar will be caused if you pop it hard and to the bottom. Use 2 paper towels and apply pressure or use a sterilized needle to prick the top. There it is popped. Was your face with a cleanser. Don't touch your skin too much that irritates it which causes more acne.

I got fake nails and now I can't. The nails are too thick and trying to pop or scrape at my face is nearly impossible. Also I would recommend a facial cleanser with some sort of hard cleaning beads. Noxema with pore cleaning beads is good. It'll lift off nasty things which promote scratching at your face in the first place. Don't forget a non-oily cleanser!

Those typically hurt me so I tend to pop them.
I've never scarred before, but directly after I pop it I put on the reparing lotion from proactive this way it can't get infected or whatever.
I would say go ahead and pop it.

Well it is called a pimple and if it were me I would pop it because I can't stand to look at them. Honestly though it is not good to pop them because you can leave scars or dark marks on your face.

Just do it. Pop it and then put on some acne medication. But you should start using a face wash at night.

Go ahead and pop it but don't touch it after that and don't try to re-pop it because if you do it'll turn all painfull and big.
