I usually call them by their names. . . Why do we have to have such labels for people? Is it so the crass can use their toilet humor??

The others I could care less about, but I work with people with DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (that is the "politically correct" term). I think that the word "retarded" is a very demeaning word, as is "mentally challenged". There are plenty of "normal" people on this earth (some are even running this government) that are "mentally challenged" without having a single developmental disability.

Sorry about the soap box, but these poor people have enough to fight against without a bunch of people laughing at them to amuse themselves. If you want to laugh about something, why not laugh at how "wonderful" our government is, and what a "great" job our president is doing with things. That should be enough to keep you going for another two years. . .

Gay vs Homosexual isn't a question of political correctness. It's more a question of community...also in what frain you use the terms.
I've heard homophobics use homosexual simply because they mean it to sound clinical in their attempt to argue that homosexuality is a mental disorder or a medical issue.

I've heard some use "gay" as a derrogatory term as well.

It really depends on how and by whom the terms are used.

How Politically Incorrect are you? Something like that has been asked before. It was "Do you think as a nation we have become to politcally correct?" My answer to that was "Of course we have. It is time to restart calling a spade a spade and not shilly-shallying around such issues as 'chairperson' instead of 'chairman' when everyone knows that the 'man' part of 'chairman' does NOT relate to gender, but to the last part of the word 'human' As for annoying someone by wishing them a 'Happy Christmas' instead of a 'Happy Holiday' If they get annoyed, just remember who it was and the next year remember NOT to wish them a Merry Christmas at all. "
