Wow you are getting BAD Advice here!!!

This is the procedure for reseting your oil change reminder

GM OIL LIFE SYSTEM - RESETTING
The GM Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and the filter, based on the vehicle use. Whenever the oil is changed, the system must be reset so the next required oil changed can be calculated. If the oil is changed before the "CHANGE OIL" lamp is lit, use the following procedure:

Turn the ignition to "ON", with the engine off.
Slowly fully press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. The reset is complete when the chimes sound and the "CHANGE OIL" lamp goes out. If the lamp stays on and no chime is heard, repeat the reset procedure.
Turn the key to "OFF".
If the "CHANGE OIL" lamp comes back on when the vehicle is started, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

Take the car back to where you had the oil changed. Have them check to make sure the oil was actually changed & have them show you that there is new oil in the pan (or you can check the dipastick yourself & be sure that there is new oil in the car). then have them reset the change oil sensor, you paid for this service it should be done correctly.

if your oil light is on, its not because it wasnt turned off lol

there is no on/off switch for the dummy lights (usuall what they are called)

it means you still have a problem, could be as simple as a bad sensor not giving the car proper readings, or it could have to do with the oil pump not providing enough pressure to shoot the oil and thus oil not reaching vital parts of the engine and the sensor reporting low on oil because the oil isnt being curculated thru out

I also have a Grand am 2004 GT.Do you love it?!! Look in your owner's manual. It will tell you how.I'm not positive, but I think you turn the key on and pump the gas 5 times. If that's not right, try the brake instead.I haven't done my oil in a while so I forgot which one it is.But I love my car!I got it in '03.Her name is Baby.

very nice ubet426. And I wish all these stupid people would stop telling people to disconnect their battery. That is the worst advice I have ever heard.

pop off the positive battery cable for a few seconds, when you put it back in, you should be fine.
