Does cruise control give better or worse fuel economy?

The answer is: it depends on if you're on level ground or hilly terrain.

On level ground, the cruise control will maintain an almost constant position on the throttle pedal, probably resulting in better mileage.

On hilly terrain, the cruise control will let up on the gas going downhill, then push like heck on it trying to maintain speed uphill. Without cruise, an intelligent driver can modulate the throttle less, gaining more speed on the downhills and losing more going uphill.

You get better fuel economy running on cruise control because it doesnt push the acclerator hard like most poeple do. So you dont use as much. Most poeple will speed and and slow down randomly with no traffic .

cruise control makes fuel more efficient by keeping the speed constant. sudden bursts in speed use more fuel than remaining at a steady pace. think of it like joging you can jogg much further at a constant pace than if you run intermittently

Cruise control increases your gas milage because you are at a constant speed and not slowing down and speeding up all the time.

Probably better on level highways but your foot can do a better job in hilly country if you let off going up the hills and speed up going down. Takes a little concentration.

imo it gives slightly worse on hilly terrain because it will "punch it" to keep the speed constant whereas if u were just using ur foot you would most likely slow alittle on the up side without pushing the gas.....regardless, keeping the speed below 60 drastically increases highway mileage...and over 70 drastically decreases mileage on most vehicals.

I think it gives better, because it uses less gas since you are going at a constant speed. This not only use less gas but let out less toxic in the air

Better because used in the right place you can maintain a set speed .
