OMG DON'T GET ME STARTED!!!! 5 CHILDREN .. YOUNG CHILDREN MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD!!! someone bring that monster to my house and leave her with me for a little while. I'm sorry, I don't care if ur crazy, stupid, or anything else, if u killed not one, not 2, but 5 children (including an infant), u need to spend an afternoon in an electric chair!
she was so crazy that she made the mistake FIVE F-ING TIMES????
no dumbass jury, she was crazy BECAUSE she killed her children!
GOD the judicial system drives me crazy! didn't one of those dumb bastards think of wat was going through the minds of the babies as they were being murdered????

"Andrea filled the tub with water and beginning with Paul, she systematically drowned the three youngest boys, then placed them on her bed and covered them. Mary was left floating in the tub. The last child alive was the first born, seven-year-old Noah. He asked his mother what was wrong with Mary, then turned and ran away. Andrea caught up with him and as he screamed, she dragged him and forced him into the tub next to Mary's floating body. He fought desperately, coming up for air twice, but Andrea held him down until he was dead. Leaving Noah in the tub, she brought Mary to the bed and laid her in the arms of her brothers. "

WHATEVER!!!

I think she needs long term help. I don't think she should be able to get out and rebuild a life, she was insane but does that mean at some point and time we are going to let her out to live her life while her children never ever got a chance at theirs.I think her husband should have got her more help than he did and why would he even think about leaving the children with her in the shape that she is in. The man worked at Nasa and had a good job and could have hired a Nanny or something. At no time should she have been left alone with the children. I am sure in his heart he knows that he has to take some of the blame but we as the general public will never hear it. It breaks my heart at what those children must have went through and I pray that no child ever has to go through that.

Well under Texas law you have 30 days to enter new information for an appeal. She did it seems that a star witness for the prosecutor lied on the stand when he said that the defendant saw an episode on Law and Order where a woman did the same crime and claimed not guilty by mentally insane. The show was never made therefore never shown and so she got a retrial on that biases. Good news though she will be in the medical hospital for the rest of her life unless she is determined to be sane again.

Postpartum depression in women is a very real issue, but that doesn't seem to matter to most people. Many want to see legalized murder spectacles of Andrea Yates and others in an all consuming craze of bloodlust for the poor soul being executed.

I think nothing is wrong with the judicial system, in fact I think the verdict was right in declaring Andrea Yates insane. My opinion is that her husband, due to his strict interpretation of his religious beliefs made her take that decision of killing her children.

I think it is so sad that she is so sick that she killed her kids. She cried for help. Shouldn't her husband who knew she was ill --fry also. Are you a mother? I am and I am so lucky I did not experience the post depression. Easy to judge if you have not been in those shoes. Andrea Yates needs help.

i agree she might have problem but she as capable of killing 5 Innocent children if she felt that way maybe she should have asked for help or had someone take the kids i feel bad for her husband but he still was there with her if my spouse killed my kids i will kill them i really don't care those were beautiful Innocent children that lived a short life thanks to their mother i think that she needs to stay in a home the rest of her life and i hope that they have that billboard that had a picture of all the kids that she has to look at everyday and make her remember what she did i don't understand the jury people i thought that they would argue because they would not all get along i just am beside myself i don't understand

I couldn't believe the verdict......I'm confused on the whole situation at the same time....I mean women go thru depression after kids....And when your a stay at home Mom like she was with No life outside of home that depression stayed with her and made her sick.....What really ticks me off is that this Dumba** HUSBAND OF HERS KNEW what she was going through how come they didnt' get help (a nanny) where were their relatives at??? This is such a sad story for this family and I just can't beleive that she could be walking free in a few years........

After reading what everyone has said I have to agree with what majority have said.

I can almost understand the insanity for one child maybe even two but when she had to chase one done that to me tell me she knew what she was doing.

How much intelligence does it take to put the dog out remove the bath mat and then kill them.

I believe she knew her actions I just wish I knew what the jury saw or heard to make them come to the decision they did.

That is so stupid how the case was overturned by reason of insanity. She killed all 5 of her children one by one, and she is not going to rot in jail for it. Hell, after the psychiatcric hospital stay she is facing I read that she may even get off scotch free. How is that right, that just shows the unjustness of our justice system in the United States. I say "eye for an eye". If one person kills another they should not get 20 years in prison, or life with a chance for parole. They should either die, because they in no way deserve to live, or they should rot to death in a maximum security prison with no chance for parole and sealed of from the rest of the wierld. What is our justice system coming to, its disgusting.

Because her mental state fits the state's definition of insanity, therefore the jurors declared she did not understand what she was doing was wrong at that time. They determined she belongs in a mental hospital at taxpayer expense, no matter what WE think unfortunately.
Remember, she's only not guilty of three of them. Prosecutors often do that in multiple murders in case they want to address it again in a different trial of the other 2. I don't see them doing that in this case, though.
