I have a bible that was given to me, but the outer edges of the book has writing all over it. Its like when you had a school book, and while it was closed you could write on the sides of the pages? Does this make sense? I just wanted to know how to cover it up? With a marker or possible gold-leafing?

All this writing was done in black ink.

Get some "Sharpie" colored markers and draw a scene that covers up the writing. These are pemnaent and will not rub off or run if a drop of water hits them. You can get gold markers, too, but they probably would not cover the black. Take a sheet of paper and copy the black marks and see what design - religious or nature scene or ven abstract - would incorporate those marks into your picture. Then copy onto book edge. Or just buy a new Bible!

They sell slip on book covers with all different designs. You could probably find a nice one relating to the bible.

Or just use a paper bag from the supermarket and decorate it yourself.
