Sometimes I feel local restaurants that aren't part of a national chain are superior. But if you're looking for restaurants on a national level, here's a few of my favorites: Crackerbarrel, Bob Evans, Golden Coral, Applebees, TGIF, and Cheesecake Factory. For fast foods, I feel the better ones are: Jack in the Box, Steak n Shake, Taco Bell, and Arby's.

I like ethnic restaurants where the owner tries to notch it up to what he or she remembers from his family's cooking but also incorporates some new things as well. My favorites are usually Italian.

I think you have to look for independently owned restaurants, not chains, to find the best/cheapest/most interesting food

Burger Boy in my hometown...open 24 hours...greasy food...and lotz of love!!!!! they have the best food. its one of those hometowny feeling places...tourist would probably not come with in spitting distance of the place but everyone here loves it. i love the onion rings!
