I am going to change my major to education to become a professor. Is there a particular degree in education I should go for? I know they have programs for early childhood education but what about for people who want to become college professors?

If you intend to become a university professor, you must major in a particular field of study (like biology, or computer science, or history, or whatever), attain a Master's degree in that field, and then a PhD in that field.

Degrees in education are for K-12 teachers, NOT college professors.

College professors don't generally have degrees in education. They usually have a degree in the field that they teach.

Hi,,, for k-12 teachers you can major in elementary education... the core studies will help you... for higher education... you will have to get a masters in that program,, or find one that suits what you have in mind... PhD's,,, teach in Universities,, I was going to do this myself,, and get my degree in Higher Education .... like i said,, each University has different class subject.....

PhD in whatever field that you want to teach. A degree in secondary education is also required.

It would depend on the field that you want to go into.
Many try majoring in English (literature), just as an all around major.
