Heck yes! I was at a flea market, many years ago. As usual, when spending time outdoors I wore a hat. At the time, I had on a canvass, cammo colored hat. Military issue that Viet Nam vets called a "Go to hell" hat, because the brass over there told the G.I's it was "unmilitary." You can well imagine the while in the bush, up country, it was almost as popular as the standard issue helmet.
An old guy came up to my booth and told me he liked my hat. I thought he wanted to buy it, so I laughed and said I like my hat a lot. The old gent smiled and asked me how much would I pay for a hat. I wasn't in a buying mood and told him I wouldn't ever pay much for a hat, since hats were cheap and available all over this same flea market.
I saw a big grin spread across his face. He told me to wait right there and he'd bring me a hat he knew I buy, no matter what the price he set. I waved him off and told him not to bother.
He came back with a hat. He came back with THE hat. Prior to this day, I hadn't even been looking for such a hat. But when he showed it to me, I KNEW I had to have this hat. I wasn't yet thinking about how much I'd offer him, but I would have paid him all I had in my pocket for this hat.
It was a beautiful topper. Soft camel brown felt, neatly pleated canvass band. The left brim was perfectly turned up and pinned with a brass insignia. It was an Australian Military Forces "digger" hat. I'd never seen one in person. The heavy brass "sunburst" insignia proudly told me its origins.
"How much is this worth to you?" he asked me. I stammered and stuttered because I knew I would ruin myself to have this hat. I bit my hand to keep myself rooted in reality and I told him there was no possible way I could pay him what the hat was worth.
"Would'ja give me five dollars?" I still show the scar on my chin, where my jaw hit the ground. My eyes still ache from going so wide. My hands still tremble at the memory of my handing him the fiver and him handing over ... the hat. It fit my skull perfectly.
I would have come up with a lot more than five dollars. I know I would have. We shook hands, and as he walked away, he explained that he wanted to make sure it went to someone who could appreciate a good hat.

Depends on the hat. If it's really cool and something you'll wear often, then yes. If not, then no.
