In the neighbourhood a big pig got 12 piglets. However it can only nurse 8. Is it possible to save some of the others by home nursing them? And if yes (I think so) have some advise of how to do this?
I have lots of space (about 5 acres). And experience with sheep, goat and chicken, but never had pigs. Should it be fenced?

Remember, I live on a Greek island and there is no vet in the neighbourhood. Pig farmers here let nature do its job, after a few days there will be only 8 left, the strongest, but I want to show them a difference. One died already (number 13).

Yes you need to fence it, low dense fence so they can't climb through, and you are going to have to bottle feed the piglets for a while, if they aren't going ot be in the pen with the mother then youwill probably have to heat lamp them, but make sure there is plenty of water in the pen if you do and they also have shade in the pen.

i recommend you go to tractor supply or atwoods and get you some pig formula, it has all the vitamins and stuff the little piglets need, they even have special bottles and nipples for them, and it is okay to let them stay in the house, and you can potty train them to use a littler box, they are very smart animals and can pick up things very quick, have fun with them and good luck

search online and go to the library to get some books. i suppose it is possible to nurse them at home, i mean you can do it with kittens and puppies so why not piglets? the link below looks really good, give it a shot... talk to a vet too.

When I was a kid,,I had a pot belly pig and her name was piggy sue...... She was pretty cool.... I can tell you that Pigs will eat any food!!! Even bacon!!!!! They are like pets and in some ways like a dog,,,you can walk uhm,,, and even on occasions have them in the house... They do like to be petted,,,and brushed ,,,, but when they get really big its kinda hard to give them a bath because they can become very strong!!!! Pigs are alot of work and require alot attention...... you will want to provide the oinker with a mud hole to stay cool.......good luck.....

Yeah, you can bottle raise them. If they are hand-raised, they turn out a lot like dogs. A fence is a good idea, just like with any other animal.
