I'm sure you know this only eludes to sex. Women and men have obviously been having it in or out of marriage for thousands upon thousands of years

Why is it woman's 'burden" to keep men strait with sex? This you should know, is a huge generalization of women as well as men. Some women have higher testosterone levels and are naturally hornyier than some other women who have very high estrogen and low testosterone, who would be considered "virginal", unsexy, and frigid--I think would be the more appropriate term.
Some men as well are not as into 'sex' for psychological reasons, lower drive due to hormones, etc.
So why does the christian/conservative church preach that it is women who need to keep their "legs closed" and go back to being the sexual "gate-keepers" when this on base assumes something very generalized and sexist about women and men's sexuality?

hornier*?

Am I to understand that if a woman has ,for example, the higher sex drive in the sexual encounter, it is the man who get's to be the "moral gate-keeper" then,?
or does he always get to, or is assumed to submit, just because he is a man?
How sexist do you think that is and how much of that do you think is based on Victorian aged sexual ignorance?

let's assume in the sexual encounter I gave as an example that the man has an erection, but the woman wants the sex more than the man does (based on his morals)? who is the sexual gate-keeper?

Women don't . . . "HAVE to be" ANYTHING . . . until and unless -
THEY choose it (whatever 'it' may be) - - - No matter what group or organization may say or teach.

Women (in free lands) have always been at liberty, to choose whatever - they just have not always been aware enough to do so.

Your question seems to ramble, and touch on various random ideologies --- beyond my ability to focus and address them all. Sorry . . .

These are two different questions.

First: "Why do women have to be the 'moral gatekeepers'?"

They don't. They should be moral gatekeepers, as should men. Everyone should do their best to lead a moral life, and each person who fails to live a moral life is responsible for their failure, no matter their gender.

Second: "So why does the christian/conservative church preach that it is women who need to keep their "legs closed" and go back to being the sexual "gate-keepers" when this on base assumes something very generalized and sexist about women and men's sexuality?"

Because many of the scoundels who run churches (not talking about serious religious thinkers and theologians necessarily) are power-driven ignorant cretans. Further, many of them have significant historys of sexual indiscressions, the personal responsibility for which they would rather not admit to themselves. Thus they hold an ideology which fundamentally blames the women.

And yes, of course different genders have different sex drives. This doesn't negate the responsibility of those for whom self-control is more difficult. If anything, it is all the more critical that they understand that the hard work they must do is their own responsibility.

I dont think Christianity only calls for women to be gate-keepers. The Bible calls for both sexes to be chaste and does not single out men or women. The old testament book of Proverbs has many many verses about young men controlling their urges. In practice among the different sects of Christianity I agree with you, they do lay the blame for sexual misconduct at women's feet and perhaps that was a way of church leaders to explain away male urges as being natural and the fault of female misconduct due to the fact that most church leaders were male.
Further more at the end of Proverbs it describes what a perfect woman would be like....it doesn't sound anything at all like what conservative Christians want us to believe. The woman they are describing sounds more like the CEO of her own company not the 1950s ideal that is always being put forth. I cannot find anywhere in the New Testament where people are supposed to remain virgins until they get married. I have found several verses relating to abstaining from sexual immorality but nothing about virginity.

It might sound really archaic to say, but primordially we are designed to have a higher standard for women than men! WHo do you run to when you have an "owie" MOM! Since before the Virgin Mary walked the earth and maybe she's a great enforcer of this idea, we as humans are programmed to have higher expaectations for women for good. To put it bluntly, it's much more acceptable for a man to be a sloppy drunk or use foul language than it is for a woman, right?

Because women are the only ones capable of producing life from a union with a man. Children are the product of a marriage; not the reason for it. If a woman uses her body like nothing more than a prostitute, then the children that come from her body are bastard children.

How easy do you believe it is to be submissive to God and to your husband? I'll tell you---it's very difficult. And without staying in the Word of God and trusting, in faith, that --as a Christian woman and wife---you are in obedience to God, there would be 90% divorces instead of just 58% today.

However, husbands---the heads of the household---must also be in submission to God. If you don't know the boss, how do you know what your job description is?

God is very clear on the roles of men, women, wives and husbands. He is also very clear on how crucial it is that women respect themselves, their bodies, and the potential life that can come from her body and NOT---ABSOLUTELY NOT----have sex before marriage. Sex before marriage is a perversion, and the spirit of the man and the woman is scarred for life---even if they turn away from their sin, and turn their sinful relationship into an obedience to God.

umm because a man is unable to controll himself

The priest are complimenting you saying you have the ability to controll yourselves. If a man sees a vagina he wants to have sex. There is no dispute.

And a man cant have sex if the woman doesnt open up so....

although i think that if a man goes long enough without having sex with a woman then that guy next to him might start lookin pretty good.... maybe we can make a deal... lol jk

so anyway its becasue of the fact that a woman is more likely to be able to controll herself in the situatio9n and say no i dont wanna

While it should be and is everyone's responsibility, women do have the greater capacity to fill the role.

Furthermore, sexual promiscuity is compounded by bringing children into the picture, and women bear the majority of the burden in that regard.

You're absolutely right. It's just a milder form of the sexism that keeps Muslim women shrouded in cloth while out in public or the hideous practice of removing a young girl's clitoris which is still widely practiced in the Middle East.

Because they are the ones with the ultimate say-so. A disinterested male can't have sex at all for the obvious reason. A disinterested female can still have sex even if uninterested, and that puts her in the driver's seat.

I think that woman need to be less controlling. They need to try to stop changing there men. Do you see men trying to change you woman, no. And don't say it's because your allready good enough. You have your faults to, but us men accept you for who you are and leave it at that. The problem with relationships today is woman want to change men into there perfect fantasy guy. Quit trying, accept us guys for who we are, if not then we going to start holding out on you woman. Times are changing, relationships are not about control anymore so get over it. Supossed to be 50/50 so stop trying to control men and grow the **** up.

ummm, because the Church has always been, is and will probably keep being for some more time patriarchal and while men have all the social power, it's way more in the Church's intrests to blame the women than their male "paying customers"...?
