It should be left in it's natural unused state, seat down, lid down.

In the middle of the night when I'm too groggy to stand -- and would rather sit -- I'd rather land on a seat than the rim of the bowl, so the seat always stays down, or gets put back down during the day.

And I think a dirty bowl says worse things about you than a dirty kitchen sink, so that toilet stays clean!

:)

Put the seat down and close the lid. Beyond the obvious "Why did they put a lid on that thing?" Does anyone want to chance droping something in there?

Down. When a toilet if flushed, germs are dispersed upto 2 metres into the air. I don't know about you, but I don't fancy a face-full of that!

DOWN!!! It's just a lil messy if you guys forget to lift it up, but when you forget to put it down...well I can't count the times I have leaped before looking, and wound up butthole deep in the toilet!!!

If you live in a house with only guys, then it's fine to leave it up, but if you live with even one woman, it should be down.
