South Park is a great show, I'm only pissed at the people who talk down about who haven't ever seen it for them selves, everyone else it entitled to their opinion (even if they're wrong). The show is very cutting edge and always makes for great, hilarious social commentary. The show usually makes fun of some particular person, place, or thing. It usually uses metaphors in order to mock what they are against. I think that it is part of the show’s genius is the fact that they are never on the same side as the other programs and media that are considered popular. They strive to be different, which is a wonderful idea on the creators’ part. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the show’s creators know that South Park will be watched more if it presents different sides of issues that most media presents. Whether a viewer is on one side of an idea or the other, this program will almost certainly give him or her a new standpoint to consider on most major issues. Another great aspect of the show is the fact that it deals with recent issues. With the help of computers, each episode of South Park only takes a few days to make. The rapid production of the cartoon enables the makers of the show to deal with very recent issues and media events. Weeks before magazines can comment on an event, South Park is able to make and air an episode and put in their two cents. The show can make comments on anything they please and often anger people, celebrities in particular. Another great aspect of the show is the fact that it deals with recent issues. My feeling is that if people don't like it that's fine but don't cry about it just don't watch it. I love it and I'm only two DVD sets away from owning every season. It's very crude and portrays children in a horrible light. At the same time though it is very satirical and if you seriously watch it there are a lot of episodes which are actually very intelligent it's just hidden under the dirt of the base show. I had a teacher who used to be a lawyer and he absolutely loved South Park, because of the afore mentioned reason.

Maybe I got a little side tracked sorry. What I was trying to say is that "I Know Nuttin" was right *What's harmful is lazy parents who don't bother paying attention to what their kids are watching on TV. *
If someone mature is watching it and can see through the dirt to the inteligent side of the show then it's not harmful, but if children are getting ahold of it then problems can arise. Although from the few kids I know they aren't a whold lot different than the South Park characters any way.

I tend to be more pissed off at people who think South Park is harmful. At its heart, it is pointed social commentary. There are plenty of instances when I cringe at some of the things the characters say and do, but I love the fact that they are out there saying and doing those things.

I think South Park is hilarious. Granted, it's not for children - it's a show designed to entertain adults... and maybe older teenagers. I'm not pissed at the people who think South Park is harmful - you'll never get rid of the uptight people with no sense of humor in this world.... *sigh......*

I don't think it's harmful if the right audience is watching it. The people who are upset have the right to be that way. The show isn't appropriate for young kids and teens, so I can see their arguement there. THe fact that many of the episodes' themes are rather raunchy or mature only cements the fact that kids shouldn't be watching it.

So I feel that if kids weren't watching the show, it wouldn't be such a big happy deal.

However, at the same time, people need to start actually parenting their children and not letting them watch stuff like South Park if they're going to complain about the content. I hate when they get like this:

"My little tommy watched your show and now all he talks about is (insert somethinig people are touchy about)! I think your show should be cancelled right now!"

But why was little tommy watching the show? It's on late at night.

"Uhm, oh, uhm."

That's right Mrs. Smith, little tommy was up watching South Park because A) You let him stay up that late and B) You weren't properly supervising what he was watching on TV.

The real issue is the parents who don't supervise what their children watch. The show itself, like I said, isn't harmful to the proper audience (hence why it's on later in the evening); what's harmful is the people complaining at the wrong thing. Don't complain about the show, complain about why parents are letting their children stay up late without supervision of what they're watching!

Just my two cents.

I love South Park, and think that adults that get offended or find it harmful, either shouldn't watch it, or learn how to take a joke.

Adults saying its harmful to kids, should watch their kids, and make sure they don't let them watch shows like that, if they disagree with what their kids would be seeing.

It is a total cop out for adults to say things like that about a TV show, if they had more duty of care when it came to their kids, there would be a problem, in other words, turn the TV off if you don't like whats on it.

South Park is a great program. Many people are just offended by its off the wall humor. Many people find it funny and have no harmful feelings toward whoever the episode is picking on.

Most do not understand that each episode is really a mockery or satire on something important happening in the world.

It really is just a satire, with bad launguage... but that's what makes it funny and great!

I'm not pissed at people who thinks it's harmful, just don't think that everyone has to voice an opinion about things that are so petty! I love South Park...if someone doesn't, then they just shouldn't watch it!
