I'm thinking a week / 10 days max - any more would really be pushing it, right?

It depends on the type of job you have. If your job does not require the use of the affected upper extremity, I would say you could return after 2-3 days or so. Then again, your employer may not allow light duty so you may have to wait for doctor to release you before you can return to work. Check out their protocal.

Unless you do something really physical in your job. I can't imagine it would require much time off at all. Don't push your luck.
