I'm pretty sure it wasn't a mistake. Don't have enough facts to say with absolute certainty, but the evidence is pointing to a targeted hit.

1) The building was clearly marked as a UN building. I have seen video taken by Israeli bombers and they should have been able to see what they were hitting.

2) The missle is claimed to have been a precision guided missle. They hit what they intended to.

3) The UN had talked repeatedly to Israeli military commanders about the outpost and the commanders confirmed that it would not be hit.

4) This outpost has been there for years (I have heard anywhere from 10-20 years), so it wasn't new to the Israelis.

5) Firing on the location continued after the bombing restricting any rescue attempt.

6) This is the second time in the past couple days the Israelis have hit a clearly marked humanitarian target. The IRC vehicle was hit on an empty road and was clearly marked as a Red Cross vehicle.

All of this is circumstantial, but enough to bring the ones in charge before the Hague for war crimes trials.

Of course it was a mistake. While Israel says it does not care abut the world's opinion and makes its own decisions about its defense, it does not need to make even MORE enemies. Without the UN's presence, Israel's armed forces would have to occupy even more real estate to defend.

Here's whats very hard: From several thousand yards away, identify the big white vehicle as UN observer, ambulance, or delivery van full of hostiles and munitions. Quick, you have less than three second to decide. On the fourth second, a stinger missile pops out of the white van, headed straight towards you. Oops, it was just a cloud of exhaust smoke.

It is a war zone. People will get hurt. Some of those killed or injured do not deserve it.

No mistake. The people at the UN outpost talked directly with Israeli leaders 10 times in the 6 hours leading up to the massacre and were assured that the raids would stop. While the UN isn't worth crap, Israel can do what it wants, when it wants with US blessings. Now innocent Chinese peacekeepers and A Canadian one have been killed. Would you stand by and let Israel bomb a US outpost? Not likely.....
P.S.
That clearly marked outpost has been there for at least a generation and was hit with guided missles. NO MISTAKE.

I think the buildings were hit intentionally. Why they were hit was probably a mistake.

These were UN observers. What had they observed in that area? *LOL* Probably Hezbollah setting up Katushya launchers.

Considering the UN observers were supposed to be in that area observing Hezbollah being disarmed and the fact so many Katushya rockets have been fired from near there. Did they sobserve the rockets being brought in set up and fired. I wonder do you sit and observe and do nothing? If you are going to do nothing, why are you there?

How can it be accidental?

The UN post was a MARKED AND ESTABLISHED one and Israel (who should have known about its existence) was warned 10 times in 6 hours that they were getting dangerously close, but they paid no attention.

In the end, according to the BBC, they used a PRECISION GUIDED BOMB to hit and destoy the UN post.

If it was an accident after all that, Israel would be THE NATION WITH THE DUMBEST ARMY IN THE WORLD. To me it sounds more like they wanted to scare the UN out of future peace keeping missions.

I dont think Israel deliberately targeted the UN, especially knowing what the world would say about it. Look what Kofi Annan immediately said. The UN socalled "peace keepers" should stay out of the way. Don't they know there is a war going on?

Yes I think it was accidental, but Kofi Annan is SO anti Israel he is making out that it was deliberate. He is an anti Semetic and VERY racist. Acidents happen in war. Anyway the Un observers would only have been critical of Israel as they constantly critisise her whatever she does, so good on Israel.
Wipe out hezbullah Israel and then Syria and nuke Iran. Good on you, God gave the land to you anyway so take it back.

I think it was a mistake. However the Unicef "UN" folks did deserve this as they videotaped the Kidnapping of the Isreal's soldiers and denied it for over a year before admitting they had a video of it...

Of course not...!

The UN was totally stupid for being in that location.... Its a war zone and anyone there is at their own risk....

The UN is under the delusional thinking that they have the authority and power to do as they wish...

The UN is totally worthless and should be dissolved....

I think it is more of a matter that they aren't interested in being too careful. I think they want the attention, and this is certainly attention-getting. They'll play dumb, hold up their hands and shrug, saying they had no idea they'd hit the UN.
