When the Yankees were winning throughout the 90s and early this century, their fans were annoying, but usually in an oblivious and fun way.
Too many Red Sox fans now, however, think that their team invented the game because they won one World Series. One, which is one less than the Marlins have won in the past decade, or than the Blue Jays won in the 1990s.
I'm not going to make generalizations about all Sox fans, but many of you guys on here are, as Johnny Damon would say, idiots.

This year they've been able to maintain their slim lead thanks to some timely pitching (Lester), some great defense (best defensive Sox team in YEARS, if not EVER) and a still potent offense...
However, as a die hard Sox fan, I know this thing is far from over...even if we have some luck, the Yanks will make their push...
As for the Sox bashers above- every team gets some wannabe fans after they win a title and have a couple of star personalities...don't take it out on the rest of us who had humility beaten into us for years and take nothing for granted...GO SOX!!!

Oh God, You are a Red Sox fan..........what a tool. I hate the Yankees too, but Red Sox fans are so damn superficial. At least Yankees fans are real and not a bunch of bratty premadonnas.
As far as your question is concerned, the Yankees are trailing now, but its only a matter of time before George opens up his wallet and buys more help.

how can you say they are so much better then the Yankees when they are only a couple games back.....I'm not a fan of either team but if the Yank's had less injuries then Boston,they would be looking like the team that needs to make changes...

Because they have a more threatening AND producing lineup and because they have a superior bullpen. The Yankees still live on past glory, and that's why they will not win the division this year. They just don't have what it takes!!

They have clutch hitters and they get their runs early which has their opponents down early.....
