did it work? what was recovery like? what are the risks?

A good friend of mine had it, and he says he feels so much better now. His nose isn't 100% un-stuffed...but he sleeps soundly during the night and wakes up feeling refreshed instead of even more tired. The recovery seemd relatively fast, like 2 weeks or so. I don't know the risks, though.

My husband's dr. will only do the surgery as a last resort. Why? It only works half of the time, so you could go thru all that pain and annoyance for nothing.. and it is painful. Dr. won't do it on obese patients, always makes them lose weight first, which often takes care of the problem. If you have extra weight/substance all over your body, it will be in the small space in your throat as well, making it hard to breathe while you sleep.
Hubby has CPAP machine which has made a huge difference for him. He has learned to sleep with it on and feels much better. He was getting weird from lack of sound sleep. Have you tried the machine?

i had sleep apnea but i also had tonsill problems i had my tonsills removed and i got over the sleep apnea. i had a hard time recovering from the surgery because i was 24 years old and the older you are the worst the recovery. it was about 3 weeks in the bed on lortabs and liquids. you may need and different surgery but this was my experience. good luck!!!!

yeah the surgery is called "lose weight" or "go on i diet" ...... being overweight is the number one cause of sleep apnea
