It is a keeper league, 12 categories. 6 offense 6 Defense. I am currently in 1st place, loaded offensively. My offensive studs are D. Ortiz, Kent(when healthy), Abreu, Renteria, V. Wells, Dye, P. Fielder.
My pitchers are Bonderman, Webb, Rogers(who got shelled last night), Lackey, King Felix, Robertson and Prior.
The guy that proposed this trade is in serious need of a pitcher, so he offered me Jason Bay for J. Dye and John Lackey. 3 weeks ago I probably would have done it in a heart beat, but Lackey is on fire as of late and Dye and Bay's numbers are almost identical. Plus I have keepers and probably wouldn't keep Bay. For some reason I like V. Wells and Big Papi. Should I accept this trade? Should I keep Bay and Big Papi? I tried to give him Robertson or Rogers instead of Lackey but he wants Lackey bad.

Tough call, mostly because I think John Lackey is one of the most undervalued pitchers in fantasy baseball. This is the third consecutive season where his numbers have shown marked improvement, with his WHIP and ERA making steady improvement each time. He's also striking out about 7 batters per 9 innings, which is something that should be valued in fantasy.
The only way I'd do this is if you were considering Bay as a keeper for next season. He and Dye will be a wash this year, but Bay obviously has some lasting power, as does John Lackey. My guess is that you'll keep Bonderman, Webb and Felix, so you may have the depth to trade Lackey if it doesn't hurt your chances for this year.
So, if you can afford to lose Lackey and like Bay as a potential keeper, then I'd likely make the trade. If you're only looking at benefit for this season, then I'd decline.

NO .. Alot of people would do Bay for Dye straight up .. you cant do that .. you can get MUCH more for Dye and Lackey .. If he really wants some pitching get as much out of him as you can .. what other bats does he have?? .. Look to get two good bats out of these two .. If i was on the other guys end of the trade i would propose that trade with no problem hoping you would accept it ... But if you Counter it with Lackey and Dye for Bay and(lets say a Grede/Swisher type bat) .. you know, the players under the radar but with good numbers ..
Bottotmline: Dont do it, you dont need RBI's (you got Ortiz), and thats all your really getting if you accept this trade.. Dye will have the better Average and a little more power for the rest of the season.. Plus he drives in a pretty good number too .. you cant do this trade..
Good Luck

I would not accept it. Even though Bay is young and is having a good year, he is not worth giving two quality players. Dye is on a team that is stacked offensively, which will always help in the stats, while Bay is in a weak lineup without any protection. Lackey is a very underrated pitcher, he always puts up good numbers and is a solid fantasy player. I just thing you would be giving up to much.

Don't outthink yourself, and don't lose sight that this is a keeper league and you're getting all excited about a good MONTH by Lackey. Bay is a top 10 bat. Lackey is NOT a top 10 arm. Dye is a decent OF, but guys of his ilk are a dime a dozen.
TRADE FOR BAY. NOW!!!!

I would do it.....Bays a young talent and perfect for a Kepper team......Dye's good but is always prone to injury, and Lackey's hott but will cool eventually.....Lackey is still young @ 28 years old but his season's have been inconsistent....1 year he's good the next he isn't....Dye the same way......if it wasnt for him being on the ChiSox, he wouldnt be as good as he was in stats.....and Bay's a solid defender and is 28 also....he has had 3 solid seasons and is showing no signs of stopping.....

No way. I would never make a 2 for 1 trade where you are getting a player with almost the same stats as 1 of the players you are giving up. No reason for you to make the trade with your lineup. You have to try to win the league now. Worry about keepers at the end of the season.

ok, enable's commence with the closers swap: this is the beside the point area of the commerce reason the two adult adult males are remarkable closers and could finally end up with the comparable kinda numbers on the tip of the year. Boston could get extra shop opportunities than Nathan yet i do no longer think of that this is that super of a deal subsequently. on the subject of the hitters now: basically you're giving a 1B for a 3B and swapping OFs. In baseball the situation eligibility is in basic terms approximately the main mandatory element, in case you acquire a extra effectual 1B than Pena (i'm hoping you do) then Pena won't play plenty for you and he in basic terms had one great year (constantly a frightening actuality). on the different hand, 3B are extra stable to locate than 1B and if your 3B exchange into Lowell then getting Gordon is unquestionably a clever pass. Lee is an improve over Fukudome, this is a no-brainer... despite if Fukudome has a great commence, he's not any experience to Carlos Lee. i could do the commerce if I have been on your shoes. the different guy is in all risk a Sox fan and overpaying for Paps ;)

no, I wouldnt do this deal. even in a keeper league
Bay's potential in Pittsburgh will be stymied by his surrounding cast and the fact that the team will always be out of playoff contention earlier in the year, unitl management puts more money into the team.
Lackey and Dye will both be focused for the rest of the year because their teams are in contention, thus, better stats.
best of luck in your league.
ps. If it aint broke, why try to fix it?
