I think both America and the UK are sitting back a bit because they have to be concerned about the bigger picture this war may have started with the taking of two soldiers but if the Israelis had just set free the women and children held in their prisons then they would have got their soldiers back and this may have been avoided. That said I think the taking of the soldiers was an excuse for Israel to make their move.

In the UK we had problems with the IRA setting bombs off on mainland Britain and killing hundreds of people but we did not go and blast the sh** out of Belfast, killing innocent people and the same can be said of the Basque separatists situation in Spain.

The American Gov. must see some similarities between this current situation and that of Vietnam, and the British Gov. must be looking at the mistakes made when becoming involved with
the war in Iraq. For this reason I think they are both dragging their heels. Maybe they should stay out all together and let them sort out their problems.....but....could Israel stand alone without the backing of its closest Alie's.

Israel should leave the Lebanon they have no right to be there as they have no right to be in Palestine.

Actually, if you look at it from the logical viewpoint....

1) Hizbollah has sworn to destroy Israel.
2) Hizbollah provoked this current fight by going across the Israel / Lebonon border and killed Israel soldiers and took two soldiers and are holding them for Ransom.
3) The UN has a current resolution calling for the Disarmemant of Hizbollah.

so.. the cosequences of each of the above....

1) If some group that hid out in a neighboring country that bordered your country amasses weapons and swears to destroy your country, would you not be expected protect your coutry?
2) If this said group then crossed the border and attacked a military check point, killed your soldiers and kidnapped two soldiers, would you not be expected to launch an effort to get your people back?
3) The UN has stated that Hizbollah should be disarmed but no one is doing so. Lebonon, by having Hizbollah a part of their government is a participant (if not willing) in Hizbollah's activities.

US and UK are not pushing for an immediate ceasefire for they understand that Hizbollah is problem that no one has dealt with and now that they have lashed out at Isreal they have created a situation where no one is going to support them.

This current conflict would over.. very quickly... if Lebonon, Syria and Iran dropped their support of Hizbollah and Hizbollah was force to disarm. I don't believe that Israel should be pushed to a cease fire with out the disarmament of Hizbollah.

As for the religion of Bush and Blair... that has absolutely nothing to do with this conflict.

What does Tony Blair's or George Bush's religious beliefs have to do with the war in Lebanon? Nothing...and Israel, FYI, is not trying to destroy Lebanon they are trying to destroy Hezbollah if you had at all been paying attention to the news you would know that...and its war so innocent people are going to be killed...

USA and UK won't declare a cease-fire because they are not in the fight. It is a very bad idea to declare things you don't want to back up with guns, and bodies.
I think our military has its hands full right now, even if that is a sad comment on a little, piddly country like Iraq taking so much of our time and resources.
George Bush and Tony Blair say they are Christian. I bet most of our soldiers say they are Christians. That doesn't mean they follow exactly what their religions say. Remember, they are SAVED, not perfect, so they say.
And just because some self-proclaimed Christian leaders don't follow the peaceful precepts of their religions, that is no reason to discard all religions, some of whom are non-violent (really.)
A cease-fire from Hezbollah would stop the problem. A cease-fire from Israel would send a free-for-all message to terrorists.
We are going to end up fighting those crazy &&%^ in the US.

properly Mr Jordanian you fairly favor to get your information instantly. Israel has been in life earlier Mohammed began the Muslim faith. do not attempt to blindsight the information. as a rely of certainty the Muslim faith has it is beginings interior the Jewish faith. otherwise how are you going to call Abraham your comon ancestor? I were given you there, eh! the issue which we've at present does no longer were a difficulty in any respect if the Arab international locations had some experience of their thick heads. Why do not the Arab international locations denounce terorism and militant communities like hezbollah, hamas, etc. and stay in peace. it is the human beings who can end this. no longer the leaders. Why do the Arabs hate the Jews a lot? Did Mohammed carry forth that the Muslims ought to hate Jews? i don't think of so. perchance interior the international He lived in He had to do what He had to do. He turned right into a guy of God and that i'm one hundred% confident that in this cutting-part international He might want to have denounced all this violence and may want to have worked to stumble on a non violent answer. Is there even one Arab who sees any experience in this?

Actually, the problem is that Isreal has taken a page from the U.S. war on terror. They quote some of the same reasoning for fighting Hezzbolah (spelling?) as we did to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, so the U.S. and Britain would be hard pressed to criticize for fear of being hypocrites.

With that said, many Muslims in Lebanon would like a peaceful solution, as well, but do not have the power to fight the radicals from within.

Religion doesn't mean stupid. Israel has been very quiet to this point. They have been bombed repeatedly. Not their military but their public buses and cafes. They did not respond to scud missiles being launched at them. Now their boarder was breached and soldiers kidnapped. These are ALL acts of war. The fact that Israel has restrained itself to this point shows they do believe in a higher power. They have not only show incredible restraint but are justified in their response. I am proud that our President has not fallen for the trap of supporting Hezbollah in their efforts.

of course it is go give them for israel to destroy lebanon, and why the lebanese would tell hezbollah to leave? don't forget that when israel occupied years ago its hesbollah who help lebanon to get rid of the israelis.
as for the israelis defending themselves well you have to ask yourself why people attack the, a country was taken from the palestinians for them, they are still trying to take more land by destroying the houses of palestinians with bulldozers, they do as they please , enoug is enough, they are a rich country, palestinians have nothing. the arabs have the right to defend themselves but when they do it they are called terrorists, israel are the terrorists.

Nobody wants Lebanon destroyed. We do however want Hezbollah pushed as far back into Syria as possible. It would be in Lebanon's best interest to help make that possible.

What most people dont realise is that the kind of military force needed to destroy hezbullha would also destroy lebenon and leave it a desolate wasteland. You cant have it both ways.
