to help protect minors who don't know better. once you are 18 it's your own free will...a perv can't get in trouble for trying to get with you then. yahoo 360 has an age limit of 18.

Doesn't matter if you DID raise the age to 18, because there is little to no way of controlling who accesses the site.
That is the reason that Yahoo closed down the custom chat rooms... you can't control WHO enters into them because it's so easy to create an 'identity'...
And it wouldn't make good business sense to do this, because MySpace is PACKED with kids under 18... do you believe that any company is going to sacrifice a demographic that size in favor of morality?
I'm afraid it won't happen.
Besides... it's not as bad as you think... you hear of a few issues, and it sounds like it's Sodom and Gemmorrah. Those same complaints could be obverlayed against Yahoo Chat... MSN... Starbucks... etc...
Teach your children how to be safe, and the world will be a safer place for them.

Because then people would have enough life experience under their belt that they would be harder to sexually exploit. This would deturb sexual preditors from abusing the system.
Also because by that time, you're either nearly finished or graduated highschool and have at least a basic understanding of HTML. Many of the users currently have no knowledge of HTML and DHTML and they get codes from other websites to customize their profile. This can often put codes on their profile that results in spyware or pop-up ads and can even establish a stealthy FTP download for things like viruses, worms, and even keyloggers.

Myspace is for teens. People can always fake their age. Who cares? Some kids are smarter than others and some have learned not to communicate with strangers.

Why bother?
People will keep making unreadbale sites with grossly ugly graphics, layouts and backgrounds - age has nothing to do with it.
Nothing like tryng to read a 2-point black font on top of an image with lots of black and dark colors in it.
Better that people be banned for incompetent web design.
