It is easier for men. Women have varied roles throughout the world. In some societies that are considered second class citzens. In others they are treated as royality. Men on the other hand have the role of leader-provider across the globe. Which makes it easier for a man to assimilate to other culture.
A good example would be to take and american business women to China. Women are not given the same respect in the work place and are often skipped over when it comes to promotions and etc.

I think its much easier for men , because they always thought of assimilating into other something different of choice.
