every day, if you miss a day here and there--that's ok.

also, continue taking them if you are going to breastfeed and for as long as you breastfeed. if not breastfeeding, take them for a little while after the baby is born. your body goes thru an ordeal having a baby. hormonally and physically. it's draining.

if they are making you sick---talk to your ob.

You should take the prenatal vitamins as long as you can. My doctor told me to continue taking prenatal vitamins even after having baby (in case I plan to have more children). Because you never know you can get pregnant again even when you are still breastfeeding.

the whole time you are pregnant and while you are nursing...( by the way..I am at 13 weeks too! ) Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

I'm taking them too, my midwife said its ok to take them all the way through your pregnancy so long as they're designed for pregnant women, not the ordinary ones which have too much vitamin A in them. Also, if you're going to breastfeed you can continue taking them as long as you're doing so so that the baby still benefits. I hope this helps

You need to take your vitamins through out your entire pregnancy
It also helps to take them for a while after delivery; especially if you're considering breast feeding, but more importantly to make sure you have vitamins & nutrients you need to care for yourself & baby.

Check out this info on the importance of prenatal vitamins:

The whole time you are pregnant and if you breastfeed you need to contuine them thru that as well. You shouldn't stop them until you talk to your Dr about what is best. Pregnancy and breastfeeding takes a lot out of your body.

The whole time & even after you've had the baby is good too. They give you all the vitamins & stuff your body needs. They also help keep your skin, hair & nails healthy.

The entire pregnancy.

Just tell yourself this is helping my baby develop strong and healthy combined with my healthy meals and exercise. I know the things are huge and nasty to swallow; just picture that precious little baby smiling at you every time you take one.
