How can a woman drown her 5 children and claim insanity? I dont think in the lease she was insane, i believe she new what she was doing? but i was just wondering what your thoughts were on her new trial and that they didnt find her guilty by insanity, i think she should be drown like she did her children unmercifully.

I think that the fact that Andrea Yates can be retried for something she admitted to is an absolute injustice in our society...As a matter of fact, I am a step parent to a little boy and no matter what he does, I would never think of hurting him in any way at all....I think that she should have gotten the death penalty because of the simple fact that she did say she killed her five kids. But I think that drowning would have been too kind of a gesture...Something slower and more painful would be the way to go with this woman...Her confession alone should have been all the evidence that was needed to convict her. For some reason though, American courts have disreguarded what is best for children anymore. These were five beautiful souls that should have had a chance to experience life, not a tragic and gruesome death. What do you suppose the odds are that she'll get knocked up again if she is ever able to get out of her soft life at a mental institute? Jurors didn't think about that I guess. So I guess in another 5 years, she'll probably end up killing more children that she will most likely have.....Women like her make me so angry. She was actually smiling in court today on TV. Talk about not showing remorse...Murder is murder no matter if a person decides not to take their prescribed meds or even if they aren't on meds...Makes you wonder, doesn't it.....Meds seem to be the excuse for everything these days...Completely unacceptable that a woman-I will refuse to call her a mother- can just murder her children and get away with it...I guess society can accept anything as an excuse for something to avoid using tax dollars to pay for it bc that's what would have happened if she would have been put into prison for life...Sadly a kick in the teeth to children who need help in our country....

The verdict was just and merciful. The woman obviously was severely ill and should be treated in a hospital and not put into a prison.

Before you send me hate mail I have two children of my own and have had personal experience with people suffering from mental illness. No, it is not an excuse to commit crimes.

When she called 911, she said, "I killed my kids." Not I saved them or help me. She knew what she did was wrong and I believe she will receive what's coming to her (in God's judgment). As for her not-guilty verdict, I am disappointed. It's just so easy these days to absolve people who do evil things of accountability. Nothing is anyone's fault these days. It's a very serious problem in our society- the lack of personal accountability.

She makes me sick..and I really hope she gets whats coming ot her.

She should have been locked away in a prison...heavily guarded..so she can't have the easy way out (suicide)...the whole thing just lights a fire under me....grr.

its too bad she cant get the death penalty. she deserves to die years ago. but she shouldn't get a new trial. its a shame that she has another chance to possibly get away because of "insanity".

She should have been given the death penelty. If she's truely crazy, then it would be the humane thing to do. If she's not crazy, then she's evil and deserves it.

(i think she's evil)
