Actually getting a degree in accounting or finance opens a lot of doors.
You can work at a company as a controller or accounting clerk depending on your ambition and skills.
You can go onto be a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and/or work for a CPA firm.
You can apply your business knowledge gained from accounting and do pretty much anything.
When you look at the typical small business owner they are usually really good at getting business and getting the job done -- but they are typically horrible at managing their business and finances.
Basically, there are a lot of choices and options.

The best career is one that you enjoy but no one does accounting because they like it. Any decent job that pays 30,000+ would be a great starter. You'd think I'd know more since I know accountants, but no.
Edit: That girl above me is right. The accountant I know does something like that.

I would go with the government public debt bureau. There are many jobs around the country and they always need accountants. You must have at least a bachelors.

CPA's only need a bachelor's degree (but have a very difficult exam to pass). Still, they get paid very well and all businesses need to use their services.
