They now have quaility young bats with nick johnson, ryan zimmerman, and austin kearns. they also have brandon watson who i think could be a decent lead off guy. Now if they get rid of everyone else on offense via a trade (that includes the over-touted felipe lopez) or letting them walk during free agency then they will be heading in the right direction. They have decent young arms too. john patterson will be healthy next year....they have cordero and ryan wagner as their back-ends in the bullpen. They need some more young pitching now that bill bray and darryl thompson are gone although collin balester looks like a keeper--yet he's only 21 and will not be in the bigs for another 1-2 years. Francis beltran is another firethrower in their bullpen that they can use. Plus they have some decent young bats in the minors in tony blanco, frank diaz, larry broadway, their best prospoect kory casto---they could trade 2 or 3 of these guys for pitching. their system is weak but I've seen worse so if they don't make bad veteran signings and burden themselves with big contracts that they can't afford, and so long as they don't put too many light bats in at the corner spots then they look like they are in decent shape. They need to make a decision on ryan church though, they should either start him or trade him, not this start one day sit the next BS that they are pulling, because he'd be a fine CF if they don't hand the reigns to watson or diaz next year.

Not this season setting 15 games back of the NL East race, they are in the harest divison in the National league. However they are preparing, dumping Slugger Alfonso Soriano to the white sox's they can finally get some help with their pitching staff they have they are young and have great talent but not this year they should gather up players and make room in their salies for more trades this coming year. but yes they well in the 2007-2008 season

no. they suk almost as much as the orioles do. and they
have to be the worst team in the league !!!
besides, DC is going to spend over 750 MILLION $$ on a stadium for a losing team while the schools fall apart from neglect. The people of DC have to pay an electrical surcharge (tax) to pay for the stadium so that the athletes can make 10 million dollars a year.
what's wrong with this picture???

Is this sport? What team are we supporting? I've nothing to support now that the cricket's finished and even the golf's over. Not that it was much good our man finished 38th. Though Ernie Ells was second and he's the same nationality as my wife, so that's good. And Tiger's American so we can support him.

They may make it to the playoffs but not for many years. One of the reasons is that they are going to be losing Alfonso Soriana (if I that spelled right)
