This is VERY normal. Im now 16 weeks pregnant and still having the same problem. My doctor told me to try and eat more fiber and what not and it does help a little bit but not too much on my part. One of the wonderful joys of being pregnant.
CONGRATS!!!!

Not all pregnant women do, but most do. I am 21 weeks and i am constipated often. I know that when i don't take my prenatal, i will not move my bows at all!! Its crazy! What happens is, women that are pregnant have to get used to eating at least 6 meals a day, instead of 3 big meals or less. The baby cannot digest food like we can, so when you don't eat periodically, you and the baby become congested and it takes longer to digest the food you have eaten. Also, when you are pregnant you have to drink more than the avg(8cups/day) because the baby is draining your body from all its nutrients, so therefore your body has to work overtime to digest and secrete; if you don't have enough water, your body doesn't work as good. Just take vitamins, you can even go to Jewel Osco (Chicago) or Walgreen's and get digestive prenatal vitamins, they are like $12. Good luck!

One thing that doctors can not put a finger on is how often one has a bowel movement. Some people go every day at the same time, and some people go once a week. It depends on the person. I have gone throug six pregnancies and they where all diffrent. I would say you're good, but if you are realy concerned or start having severe pain you should talk to your doc. or midwife. Congratulations and good luck!

Very normal, however since I knew about it before i got pregnant I have prepared myself for that and in 12 weeks that I have been pregnant I have not had any constipation problems at all, thanks to the miracle of the WATER! the more water you drink the better your digestive system will work. Prenatal vitamins can cause constipation too due to iron, BUT if you are drinking plenty of water you should not have any problems and like the commercial says, drink water and let's see what it does for you.
Do not take any laxatives like someone suggested you water will do the job!

probably. You are most likely eating different now than before you were pregnant. Your body is just adjusting to the new foods. If you are really concered or if you thnk its more than just a little constipation I would say go to your doctor, but you should be fine.
