I used to have pretty bad pms. I went on a drug called Effexor not for the pms but for generalized anxiety but it also cleared up my bad PMS now I am happy all the time. Period or not! Best desicion I ever made! Also helped me to loose weight. Go figure!

I am 40 year old professional and I know exactly what you are talking about. When I was younger I didn't have these tremendous mood swings but as I got older, they got worse. I didn't even want to be around myself before my period. I went to my physician and am now taking a small dose of Wellbutrin and Prozac. Although I have NEVER taken any anti-depressants before now, I can honestly say, I will NEVER STOP taking them. I have what is know has PMDD which is a severe type of PMS. The difference is amazing! I don't feel like I'm crazy before my periods anymore. I still get annoyed easily but am nothing like I use to be..thank God! Best of luck to you!

I'm an absolute asshole before and during my period. I go off on people I've never seen in my life, I cry over anything, and I get depressed and think all my friends hate me. I'm guessing it's not normal but I just try to stay away from fast food restaurants and stores, and people in general. Probably doesn't help you but I'd guess you feel better knowing someone is experiencing the same thing.

What you feel is normal because I experience the same thing sometimes but I don't feel like killing someone, that's too much but you can start your day by taking a hot shower and then drink plenty of water in the daytime and hot shower before going to bed and maybe take Aleve because it always works for me and have your husband massage you too relax you and maybe a hot compress on your belly.

totally know what you mean...they make certain anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds for severe PMS like that if you talk to a doctor...
and certain birth control pills are supposed to reduce symptoms of PMS
but if you are looking for an over the counter remedy, try pamprin or midol specifically made for PMS (you can find them in any drug store)
and sometimes excercising or doing yoga or anything that you use in general when you are stressed out can help lessen the blow of severe PMS..
good luck! pms is the worst!!

I do the same thing and the only thing I can do is try and keep my mouth shut and spend as much time by myself. Midol helps the cramping some, but not the mood swings.

my friend has to take Prozac 1 week before and one week after her cycle. Go to a gynecologist so they can prescribe a medication for you, before you do something you will regret

Have you ever considered a natural balancing cream? It's done wonders for me.... I just started using this month, and I didn't even have one problem with my period this month.
