thats horrific that some people are so narrow minded
mind you - my father is a history writer - he was once asked by an American lady - whether Hitler had been released from prison yet, and where he had decided to live. ......
so in another sense i really shouldnt be shocked at that question!

You should get your facts straight before making statements like this. The so-called "iron age" arrived in different times in different places; it most certainly did not start solely in Africa, nor is it possible to put a firm date on it as you suggest.
For instance, iron was used in the Mediterranean region as far back as 2000 BC; whereas in some areas of Africa today the indigenous people are still unaware of how to smelt or use it.
Consider skipping the snap judgements about what you believe "Americans think". Instead, ASK people what they think. Very likely, they'll surprise you.

stop generalizing about america that shows you know nothing about it africa is developing but to many independant paramilitaries and groups fighting.
your statement slapped you in the face cause right now you are behind but were ahead at one point its not 1AD anymore its the 21st century and yes coloniztion by europeans and arabs has messup up the continet. to add to your question you should have said the world not just america everybody love calling out america americans this americans that why do you care what americans think thats like how some euroepans say americans are stuid and when you say that your saying all! why is that?
too much goverment greed, slavery(from muslims) and corruption in africa is holding it back!
question for the guy below i think you are lying about the thing with australia because too many damn people know what the british did down there.

They are uneducated, they build stereotype from television in which they depend on as a reliable source of information; not concerned whether it's true or false. LOL, wooden swords, that how we kicked out British conquerers out of our land, yeaa-ah.

Well, for myself, when I hear about Africa, it is something on TV showing starving people in rural areas or people on safari. I realize that there are cities, but most of media exposure makes it appear very undeveloped.

So what, what's your point? China invented many of the inventions we use today, including gun powder, fireworks, and many other weapon related inventions, but hey, look who's still the world super power now?!?
It's because the world is EVER CHANGING and EVER IMPROVING. And if you don't Change with the Times, you eventually lose out of the race. (Just like our frickin computers, it'll be outdated next year!)

where'd you get this from? Africa is still uncivilized, it might be improving but there's still a lot of countries that are really poor.
