I started my period at 10. It can be scary. The best way to tell your mom is honesty. You have done nothing wrong and she shouldn't be mad or upset. Make a time when she isn't busy and tell her, SOON. Hopefully you have the type of relationship that she will be able to answer any questions and celebrate your becoming a woman.

I know it is scarey! I was 10 when I got my period. I was scared to tell my mom also tht I had gotten my period. I hide it from my mom for about 3 months. Don't be scared! Just say mom I got my period. She will be ok with it, she is expecting you to have to come and tell her this sometime soon. Don't worry everything will be ok.

You should just tell her straight out. She'll eventually figure it out anyway -- you'll have an "accident" in your underpants or on the sheets (assuming she's doing the laundry) or you'll have to ask her for feminine products (since I'm assuming she's doing the shopping).
There's nothing to be scared of or ashamed of! It's nature kiddo - heck, how do you think YOU got here? Periods are just what women get and have to deal with - its just nature! It'll be fine.. Just tell her that you need to tell her something and just come out with it. She's not going to be mad or anything, I'm sure!

Just tell her. My wife says she started having hers when she was at the age of 9 or 10. Its just a natural part of growing up, and its not your fault this is happening to you.
If your mother is one who is afraid to see that you're starting to grow up, then its her problem, not yours. She needs to realize you cannot stay her cute little girl playing with Barbie dolls forever, and if she does get upset, realize its because you entering your next phase of womanhood not only tells her that she is getting older, but also takes away some of the parental control she will now have over you. You need to be allowed to grow up to your next phase, regardless of whether she likes it or not!!
She's gonna find out when she sees the blood in your underwear anyway, so better she hear about it from you. I doubt she is going to get mad at you about this, but, in the rare case that happens, just show her this response to your question.

Congratulations, youre growing up.
Remember, every woman in the world had her first period sometime in her life (including your Mom).
Tell her. She will be pleased to tell you about her experience the first time too.

sweety, every girl goes through this. i was 12 when i started mine and i was a little scared to tell my mom too. your mother is there to help you with these things. it happened to her too. shes not going to do anything but help. just say " hey mom, i need to tell you something" take her in a room where its just you two and say"I'm a little embarrassed but, i started my period". that's it. she will help you from there. don't be afraid OK. it just means your starting to become a women.

Just go and tell her, she'll understand, she had it too. I know it might be hard, but if you dont tell her soon, she wont be able to help you. Sorry, but the only way I can think of is saying..."Mom I think I had my period". Best of Luck! : )

There's nothing to be scared of. Don't be embarrassed to tell your mom because she has gone through this herself. If you are scared or embarrassed to tell her because you think you got it at an early age don't worry my roommate got hers when she was 9. When I got mine (at 12), I just told my mom "hey I got my period already", it's no big deal, we all have to go through it. Good luck and welcom to cramps, bloating, and fatigue.
