The verdict for Andrea Yates was just presented about an hour ago. The verdict was not guilty by reason of insanity. What do you think about it?

If the verdict is really not guility by reason of insanity, then she will be locked up for the rest of her life. She just won't be in prison. She will be treated like she is mentally retarded for the rest of her life. The Department of Mental Health may take her in. If she goes crazy, the faculty will end any kind of scenerio that she can dish out. The death penalty would be better, but since she is found insane, she will never have a life. If she isn't insane, and she acted her way into a insantity decision, she will hate life-to-be. No one will talk to her because people think of the insantity has retarded and they don't know what they are talking about. So her friends and her life is over, so this maybe a good punishment. She thinks she wants this kind of decision, but she will find out that pretending to be insane to get off charges leads to a crappier life.

i've got faith that's a question of labeling in usa. anybody and each little thing could have a label on it. Conservative, Liberal,Constitutionalists, Libertarian, Democrat, Republican, and so on. and so on. and so on..such multiple labels, lots divide. isn't that the game? Divide and triumph over. All i be attentive to is United we stand and divided we fall. What could take place if we did away with political labeling altogether? Then human beings could could surely teach themselves as to who to vote for. for this reason the stranglehold on funds and political ability the Democrats and Republicans have in Washington must be divided and used extra properly in accordance to what WE the human beings choose.

Texas has tough juries.

This isn't California.

The woman is psychotic.

It's chillingly unnatural for a mother to kill her children. If we can't count on our mothers, then what?

Wasn't there some insane religious angle? She was going to lead the children into evil, so she had to kill them first, then they would go to heaven?

The insanity argument cuts both ways. The woman is not responsible for her behavior. That means she can't control herself. She is extremely dangerous. Maybe she should be executed anyway. Let the angry people have what they want?

Well she definately is insane, she does need help and probably get what she needs in the mental facility where she will be sent. Just because she was found guilty doesn;t mean she will get out anytime soon. Remember God has this one.

She should be convicted Guilt by reason of insanity...the term should be changed. Innocent b y reason of insanity take all responsibility off the individual. Insanity cannot kill but insane people do.

I think she is extremly insane. I really do. But, I hope this doens't equal getting off easy. First of all, she should be sterilized, second, she should be in jail for the rest of her life. And they should decorate her cell with many many pictures of those poor kids and make her look at them for the rest of her life.

Sigh.....you have to wonder sometimes don't you?
However I do have to say, that as usual with television coverage, we only get to see what they want us to see. If everyone had participated in the trial itself, perhaps the Not Guilty verdict wouldn't seem so...so...INSANE.....

After O.J., nothing really surprises me where the American jury system is concerned.
