I think he's overrated. I hate him....yet each year he manages to do just enough to not be noticed as a line-up flaw. I mean for God's sake the Jays traded for him---not that wasn't a good trade since they only gave up aging , and expensive corey koskie, pathetic dave bush, and 27 year old fringe prospect gabe gross. I think lyle overbay is a rich man's doug mienctkewitz---in that he has more power, and hits for a higher average. I think lyle will go into a tailspin starting in auguts that he never recovers from, and next year I predict he hits .250 with 10 homers, and 60 RBI's.

wrong trade...yes...but zach johnson sucks sooooo it doesn't even matter it was good trade for the jays even though they only got overbay...because sadly everyone else was awful that was involved. taubenheim sucks too by the way, as do jansen and chacin for the jays. if richardi had any sense he'd plug in david purcey, and dustin mcgowan into the roation.

and it was not the same trade per se fool....but the brewers agreed to take koskie off the jays hands for money reasons...if they got johnson in the other trade...so technically if you don't simply follow the foolish baseball media, then you'd know it was all inter-connected---really like one huge trade, broken up into pieces......so start getting real information.

WOW.......are you sure you've not a Yankees fan? Lyle Overbay is never going to be an Albert Pujols or a Paul Konerko, but he is still a very serviceable major league first basemen.

2006 STATS .306 AVG, .365 OBP, 16 HR, 60 RBI, 873 OPS

Just be happy you don't have someone like Kevin Millar or Travis Lee playing first. Also you got the trade wrong. It was Overbay and Ty Taubenheim for Gabe Gross, Dave Bush, & Zach Jackson. Jackson was Torontos #1 pitching prospect & was the reason that the deal was done at all. Corey Koskie wasn't even involved in this trade.

Dude, the guy is a nice player. He is certainly better than average and while he's not great, he's been producing well in both the American and National league. While I think we'll soon start to see a decline from him, possibly starting next year, he's really helped the Blue Jays lineup this year. Stop hating on the guy, he's been a productive big leaguer for several years now.

I've never thought he was a superstar, but i do think he is a decent player. Right now he plays for a real good team in toronto, but looked a lot better when he was a good player on a bad team like milwaukee and arizona. I wouldn't expect him to have spectacular years, but he is a very servicable 1B and DH.

I think we have already seen the best Overbay has to offer.
