Look for the source of your dust--animals? dirty shoes? doors and windows open? dirty fireplace? Once you find the source of your dust, you might be able to cut down the dirt coming in. Make sure your furnace filters are clean and change them regularly. You might try running the fan only on your furnace or airconditioner. The fan draws air from the house through the filter and will thus clean the air. I have my fan setting on the thermostat set on "on" instead of "auto" so that it runs constantly for a while and then I switch it back to auto. If you do this during the day for a while that also helps filter the dust out.

Dust is actually dead skin cells. So the way to prevent dust from building without dusting every day is.....

.....stop shedding skin! No but seriously, exfoliate as much as you can in the shower.

Open windows will invite dust. Sometimes central air conditioning and heaters carry dust too.

You cannot really keep it from getting into your house, but you can slow the accumulation so you don't have to dust as often.
