i personally nurse my 6 month old exclusivly (i know i cant spell :P ) and i do in public and at home. i see no reason to stay at home because my baby Sage nurses or to EVER feel uncomfertable. nursing is natural and the best for the baby.

I never stopped. I nursed until my children stopped--over the 2 year minimum for each of my children. And I nursed in public whenever the baby needed it.

My son was 4 months old when I had to stop due to a second bout of mastitis. I breastfed in public, using a blanket for cover on the side he was feeding on. I got smiled at a lot by women & a few frowns from older women & some men. Thankfully, no one said anything rude to me. Depending on where I was, I'd find a quiet spot to feed him. If I was at the mall, some upscale department stores like Macy's & Bloomingdale's had sitting areas with couches & chairs. I'd sit there to breastfeed. My son's now 9 & just fine for having to switch to formula.

I nursed my son for 5 months- my mother-in-law had convinced me he needed other food, I believed her and he liked the other food better. She actually was giving him rice cereal mixed with formula and fruit, from a bottle saying it was ok, I had to get him to switch to a spoon while my husband just kept giving it to him in a bottle like his mom did... it was a real situation. Finally he started taking it from a spoon- what a relief. I'm currently breastfeeding my daughter who is 10 months old, and I'll nurse her until she wants to stop. She is bigger than my son was at this age, and way more healthy.
Yes- I do nurse in public. I don't think there is anything wrong with feeding a baby in public!

I breastfed all three of my children until they weaned themselves, well past toddlerhood.

I nursed them on buses and trains and planes, in stores and in malls and in parks.

I found it most discreet to wear a two piece outfit with a knitted top. By practicing in front of a mirror, I learned very quickly how easy it was to lift my top just enough - the baby's head and body hid any bare skin. You really could not see a thing. It just looked like the baby was sleeping :)

In cooler weather I would wear an undershirt under my top. I cut slits in the undershirt to allow the baby access. This was even more discreet!

One thing I never did was to use a blanket as a cover up. When I see people doing that, it immediately tells me that they are nursing - draws attention to it!

I stopped breastfeeding my son when he was around 2 months old, but that was b/c my husband had went to basic training and my MIL (who I was staying with) convinced me that the baby was not getting enough to eat. I switched to formula but wish I had stayed with it longer. Any future children will be fed at least to the 6 month mark!

And yes, I did feed in public, but I had a blanket over me. Everyone who saw this always said it was nice to see a mother and a child like that.

I breastfed for 2 months though it does not sound like much. I did not do it in public I would always find a restroom or a breastfeeding room in the places I went, no offense to those who do breastfeed in public, but I personally don't like people looking at my breasts other than my husband.

My son was 4 months old when I stopped nursing, because it was hard to keep up with his schedule after I went back to work. I fed him where ever we were when he needed to eat. I used a towel to give him some privacy. I quickly learned to get over feelings of modesty because he would always want to eat when there were lots of people around.

He also would not take a bottle if I was within smelling distance. If he could smell me he woudl refuse a bottle from anyone.

People who were most uncomfortable about breastfeeding our kids were my dad and my father in law. They would leave the room any time my wife nursed. Both kids nursed until they were about a year old. Daughter kept going a little longer though it was really just for comfort.

I am still breastfeeding my daughter and she is 5 months and I donot plan on stopping until she is 1 or if she wants to stop sooner I will. I do it in public if I have to because I am not going to let her be hungry just because someone does not like it. I have a privacy blanket that I use. Do not listen to Scarlett Rose because you should not give cow's milk until they are one and they say it is best to breastfeed until they are one.

I never breastfed because it was too hard, but I used a breast pump to get milk for my little one. He is now 5 months old and I no longer feed him breast milk. I just feed him regular non fat milk and baby formula. There's nothing wrong with breast feeding your baby for too long but it can be pretty hard to stop him or her afterwards.

My mother told me that her brother used to love being breastfed untill he was almost 3. As soon as her mother came home, her brother would run to her and grab her chest trying to drink. His mother (my grandmother) had to put a spicy sauce on her nipples for him not to like the taste and get him out of the habit.
Pretty funny, but true!

Your baby doesn't really need breast milk after he is 3 or 4 months old. Regular milk and formula will do the trick. But i think it is best if every baby gets some breast milk from their mom for a while because that milk has all the things you baby needs to get strong.

I breastfed my youngest the longest, full time until he was 8 months and just at night until he was about one year old. Yes I breastfed in public but there are ways to be discrete. I always had a light blanket in which I could cover myself while breastfeeding. For me breastfeeding was a way to nourish my child not a political statement.
