astronomers are trying to define the word planet, but it isn't easy. many astronomers favor the reclassification of the bodies in the solar system into three groups: the rocky terrestrials, the gas giants and the ice dwarfs. there are hundreds of known ice dwarfs, including pluto, quaoar, sedna, 2003 EL61, and 2003 UB313 (the official name of xena). this is known as the kuiper belt. pluto was the first kuiper belt object discovered, but 2003 UB313 is about five percent bigger than pluto. pluto is smaller than the moon.

The international association of astronomers will have to bettter define what constitues a planet first.
Under the most recent data available, Pluto would not qualify as it is too small, but it is likely going to be grandfathered in.
Xena is bigger than pluto and farther out, and there are several Kuiper Belt Objects (KBO's) that will likely qualify and several more will likely be discovered in teh next 5-10 years as detection techniques are refined.
Nothing has yet been discovered in the Oort Cloud though.
Plan on planets 11-20 over the next decade.

We are beginning to detect planet sized objects in the Kuiper belt and Oort cloud of this solar system. Recent estimates suggest that there may be hundreds of planets out there, orbiting our Sun at a distance where the Sun would appear to be just a bright star.
If this is true, we would not easily be able to say how many planets the Sun has, just that there are many more than we were aware of in the past.

where did you get 11 from if there even isnt a 10??? there are nine planets and a crap load of moons with those planets... nothing is coming into this solar system except because the sun is dying out .. eventually we'll get knocked out the gravitational field of the sun and be part of jupiters system until the sun becomes a blackhole and pulls us in way out of our life time
