Geniuses often have their lives shortened by people who disagree with their boat-rocking ideas. They also have a tendency to burn the candle at both ends, and run themselves down physically.
HOWEVER,
It doesn't always work that way.

Geniuses have to work very hard. Maybe they don't sleep enough and their brains don't get enough time to rest, whereas mediocre people don't use their brains much, if at all, so they live to a ripe old age.

that's a good point! perhaps it's because people get jealous of those who have more talent and brains than them, so they think it's a good idea to kill them...
