http://www.ilounge.com has a forum dedicated to free music for iPods, and a ton of other stuff as well- great iPod site!

OK, so most of it won't be hot new music, and a lot of it is artists you've never heard of, and for the most part it is one song here, another over there- but if you want legal, free music, that is part of the cost.

Oddly, www.amazon.com has a lot of free music on their site.

www.magnatunes.com has 'pay what its worth' costs for their artists (many are remarkably good!)

www.allofmp3.com is a Russian site that is, as far as I understand it, technically legal but follows different national copyright rules so the music is incredibly cheap. There is a raging controversy about the legality and morality of it, however. (I learned about it from Popular Science magazine, so I figure it can't be TOO bad.)

This one fairly relies on a couple of elements. First, it is major to grasp in which you are living. Different places have distinctive piracy and copyright legislation. In the US, now not shopping tune is unlawful. In Canada, they view it as sharing tune so it is alright to get loose tune. In the US, that's in which you most probably are, utilizing offerings like Limewire (acknowledged above), Bittorrent and another torrenting carrier, and Morpheus is unlawful. A authorized alternative that's greater than ninety nine cent a music iTunes is Yahoo! Music Unlimited. There you'll pay a per thirty days rate of some thing trivial ($10-15) and feature entry to limitless songs.
