what's the point of going to work? why can't humans just sit around and do art all day?

there are plenty of resources on the planet to facilitate such a world- why do we, as a species, insist on slaving away for our whole lives so that someone we don't even know (and would probably think was a d*ck, if we did) can make a little money?

i'm not asking why I can't just sit around all day, I'm asking why ALL HUMANS can't just sit around and think and be creative instead of working toward retarded goals that aren't ours in the first place...

As lovely as it sounds, unfortunately, that's not the way the world is. The world is based on a money system.. HOW OR WHY this ever started I have no idea. But what I do know is that because it is that way it is right now, you have to have those little piece of paper to get that electiricty, to get that water, to buy those nice clothes and to buy the art supplies you want. That's why. We can't change anything right now.
I know. it stink beings the little peon. Have you ever htought going into business for yourself??

BTW... all people can' sit around be creative because people like YOU think thier goals are retarded! Why not think of creative ways to reach those "supposed" retarded goals??

First of all, your perspective on the abundance of resources in the world is probably coloured by a fairly priveleged existence in a prosperous nation. Most people around the world aren't working for a wage; they work every minute they are awake just to survive. The fact is that most of us who are lucky enough to live relatively comfortable lives in a wealthy nation are doing so on the backs of people around the world that our corporate system essentially use and abuse as slaves.

On the other hand, if the intent of your question is why have we set up the system thus: money is merely a system of exchange for goods and services that we desire. However, we live in a corporate world that demands a high return of our time in exchange for the money that will buy what we want. It is not unfair that we must work to earn an income; rather it is cruel that the vast majority of people around the world do not begin to earn an adequate wage for their labour.

Finally, as to sitting around doing arts and crafts, there is nothing wrong with that...so long as one can pay the bills, keep the lights on, and keep the fridge full.

Not all humans want to sit around and make art all day.
Working at a 9-5 job to get money to buy necessities is generally preferable to hunting (and possibly starving) and building shelter (and possibly having it get burnt down) and packing up the teepee when the weather changes...
You have a choice about which job you take. You also have the choice to start your own business so that you don't have to work for a d*ck. No one will stop you. But, no one will hand it to you either.
Move out of your mom's house, then you will understand.

I suggest that if you dont like working for some big corporate jerk for a little money then start your own business, and be your own jerk. You can sit around and do art all day if you call making pics in the sand art. If you call painting on canvas art, then how do you plan to pay for your painting supplies? And if you are happy with your sand art, how do you plan to eat?

Grow up, get a job and you may find out how nice it is to work for a living.

I totally agree with you. I recently quit my job in an office because of these exact reasons. People are too consumed by society and civilization to understand that there are resources out there that DON'T NEED MONEY!!! We should form an anti-money club or something.

Sorry, but even if we had machines wipe our asses and tube-feed us while perfectly regulating our sleep-cycles, they would still wear out, need new parts, and have to be maintained.
