I know people don't usually try to kill off grass, but I have a gravelled area that grass is growing through(not weeds). Can you buy anything for this

There are several chemicals that can be used to wipe out unwanted plants, but remember when you use them that they will kill everything you put it on --even the mist from the chemicals will sometimes kill the bordering area plants so you must be careful. Use only on a calm day. The one I use most is Roundup. At your garden center look for sprays that say "kills grass and weeds". Sometimes they are called "edgers" because people use them along fences or in gravel drive ways. Be careful when you use and don't get it all over yourself. By the way, Roundup now comes in a new formula that makes the kill longer lasting.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND IDEA
at my house its easy. Any where we put sunflower seeds the ducks come every day and tear it up. We have 2 spots in an otherwise beautiful yard that are completely bare of grass
BTW we have st Augustine grass Which has little finger roots that spread everywhere
if you don't have ducks...feed another local bird..(pigeons, or doves love to eat off the ground too.)

if you can remove the gravel then place black bags over the area then replace the gravel this stops grass and weeds coming through

Buy a dark colored tarp and place it over the area you wish to kill. The heat of the sun with kill everything underneath - no chemicals required.

or alternatively you could lay some plastic sheeting under the gravel to prevent anything growing through

Roundup.
Spray were you want to kill and give it about four to five days and everything will be dead.
A tip, don't spray on a windy day as the roundup may drift and kill other plants in its path.

You can use round-up or if you do not want to use chemicals, I heard a strong mix of epsons salt will do the trick. Just mix it with some hot water so it's really strong and pour it on it.

Clear or black plastic- cooks it pretty quickly on a sunny day, no chemicals needed and reusable.
