I started eating spinach and other green leafy veggies after watching Popeye. My little brother did too, for a while. He outgrew the spinach/Popeye thing, but spinach is still one of my favorite veggies. Addiction? I wouldn't say I took it that far, but I guess it could happen.

And that was in the 70's. Popeye's influence transcends time.

I used to watch Popeye in the 60's. I ate spinach because of Popeye. I still love Spinach today.

You mean Popeye, right? The kids probably liked it better psychological after watching the movie that was made around that time frame, staring that actor who played in Mrs. Doubt fire, I wouldn't call it an addiction. To much of anything isn't good! even though the TV shows Popeye doing it, unless the kid hates the stuff and would gag every time he or she smelled the stuff, it was a good influence on the kids. You have to remember, Popeye hated to eat it too! but when he did, it was a can at a time. It wasn't like he was popping it in his mouth left and right like he loved the stuff! ( That actor in the movie, just f.y.i. was addicted to drugs at the time, seriously)
