Firm I has been selling its products through a distributor for some time. It has become the market share leader. Unfortunately, this distributor has not been able to keep up with the evolving technology and customers are complaining. There are no alternative distributiors available. Should Firm I keep its current distributor or should it begin distribution on its own

Of course you should, if there are no alternative distributors available, then you have found a niche.

I don't know your entire situation, but I wouldn't start up a distribution business. It's quite different from running a products company so I would keep asking around for an alternative distributor. There must be companies that distribute to the same customers. Or maybe a manufacturers agent might be the way to go. I included the link below. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I find it difficult to believe there are no "alternative distributors." If you are willing to be more precise, contact us through my profile. There will be a solution that fits your needs - order fulfillment centers abound that are experienced and welcome new lines.
