If Theodore Roosevelt were alive, would you want him to be president over George W. Bush?

What do you all think? In your opinion, who would make a better president, Theodore Roosevelt or George W. Bush? I'd personally pick Teddy.

Theodore Roosevelt hands down. There are tons of reasons why, but a major reason would be because TR was very progressive on environmental/conservation issues for his time, whereas Bush is far and away the absolute worst environmental present ever. Republican doesn't necessariliy equal bad enviornmental policy. In fact, many of the biggest gains in environmental policy in the US have been under Republican administrations -- Roosevelt and Nixon are the most significant. It is truly unfortunate that the current dominiant players in the Republican party has sold out the public good to pander to the interests of extractive industry. Hopefully this will begin to shift with the 2008 election.

i'd much rather have tr. i think it was he that said 'tread softly and carry a big stick'. he believed in using military might but not to go around provoking war where it wasn't necessary. he turned america into a super power but he was also a major conservationist who instituted the national parks system. he was much more conscientious in his use of power and recognized the need to protect our natural resources.
