Look at the link below for the article in the Houston Chronicle.

Yates originally claimed that she had ruined her children and that they were going to grow up to be criminals. With a mother like her, that doesn't sound too far-fetched.

So my question is, had her children been allowed to live, would they have grown up to be criminals? If so, this raises an interesting question. Is it possible to identify children who will grow up to be criminals at an early age? And if so, how should these children be dealt with?

I personally would have no sympathy for a future criminal, any more than I would for someone who had already committed a crime. I would probably go too far and just lock the children up and throw away the key.

What would you do, if you seriously believed that your child was "ruined" and had no hope whatsoever of living a worthwhile existence?

I agree with bigtigerthecat, the system is completely evil. No, the kids did not deserve to die. Can you really take a 7, 5, 3, 2 year and 6 month old and say they would be criminals.

Why didn't she just kill herself then? Maybe those kids would have had a better chance in growing up stable someplace else then in the hands of those wackos.

Another example of using the devil, religion, mental instability, etc. to deny the fact that one can run from their mistakes in this world. Let's just face it, America is full of excuses and our so called justice system allows for plenty.

If I thought my child was ruined? What kind of question is that really? Had no hope of a worthwhile existence? You personally have no sympathy for a future criminal? Lock up the children? You seem to think that the Yates children are just like their mother. Not all children from a shady and unstable past turn out to be criminals. Please don't reproduce. Ever.

Reguardless of what people might say or think, demon possession is a VERY VERY real thing. HOWEVER, EVEN THIS DOES NOT EXCUSE A PERSON.

No, Andrea Yates did not save her children from hell. Only God has the power to save people from going to hell. I really can't say for sure where her childern went, but we do have a merciful God.

The difficult thing is dealing with spiritual matters in our current legal system. ALL I KNOW IS THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT SHE DID IT WILLFULLY and that is all the proof we need. The courts made a very evil decision.

i might have faith that Mrs. Yates is an rather unwell woman and circulate away her in peace to heal with the appropriate medical care she has accessible to her, extremely than use her as an merchandise lesson to sell a perspective.

no, i believe that no child should be given up on. God put all the children on this earth for a reason and he should be the only one to remove them

oh Please......she is a psycho! I agree with the verdict that she is mentally incapacitated. I mean, who in their right mind would kill any child, let alone do it again and again and again. But, she should be held accountable for her actions. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she knew it was wrong......
