My 1997 Voyager 3.0L: The check engine light came on. I read the stored code and it is P0140, which is the oxygen sensor behind the Catalytic converter. Should I replace the sensor and how hard is it to do on that engine? Do I need special tools? Is is reachable from under the car?

You can rent a sensor socket from Autozone. It's easy. Replace the O2 sensor if nothing external seems damaged, such as the wires. It's not overly common for just the cat sensor to fail. Once you get it out, look at the sensor. Is it damaged? You may have damaged it hitting a speed bump too quickly. Is it white/faintly green? You have antifreeze poisoning. Is it black and greasy and stink of oil? You're burning oil. A dark color from carbon is normal, however. They can also be poisoned from silica and sulfur, albeit this is generally less common.

If that is the code for an oxygen sensor, then YES and it isn't hard to replace or find. it will be the only thing that screws int the exhaust pipe that has a wire plugged into it. If you are careful to make sure that you ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD GRIP ON IT WITH THE WRENCH you don't need any special tool.

check wiring and connectors before replacing. the 02 sensor is stuck and won't respond when the computer applies voltage when checking the circuit. most of the time in your vehicle it is the 02 sensor before the cat. converter that is defective. i have had several vehicles with bad wiring so check this first. proper diagnostics is usually required if the 02 sensor replacement doesn't work.
