Does the battery still have a charge? I had a new battery that was dead once. If it's holding charge ok, but just won't turn over, I would look to the starter. If it was the alt. it could crank but not maintain amps, and slowly loose charge and die. The exhaust system that someone mentioned, really wouldn't be an issue I would think. I've seen catalytic convertors catch fire from being so clogged and the car still managed to start and run. Bottom line, check the battery make sure it still has enough CCA, then go with the starter.

Try to jump start it, check connections, and forget the alternator at this point because it won't work unless the engine is runnning.
The other thing is did you replace the battery now or then. If it is side post check the connections as they tend to leak. Make sure you have metal on metal and no cauliflower growing. If it jump starts try trickle charging the battery most chevrolets have a 35 milliamp draw normal ie: battery dead after 2 months sitting. make sure to trickle charge about 24 hours as this is the only way to revive a totally discharged battery. If the cable ends are wasted you can get new ones.

Can you jump start the car? If not, check the starter. If the car starts and you disconnect the battery terminal it should continue to run if the alternator is good. If the alternator is bad the car will die.

Does the new battery have the same amperage the old one had. Make sure you get the same power on your new battery.. The size of the battery does not tell you you have more juice. I hope this helps.

Check the alternator, starter, otherwise with it sitting that long, your engine might have locked up.
